About
Jason is a first-generation American and is the son of immigrants. His father came from a small village in Iraq, and his mother immigrated from a harbor town in Italy. In America, Jason’s parents always lived in Nevada, first settling in Gardnerville and later moving to Reno, where Jason would be born and raised.

Jason is a proud member of the Wolfpack, double majoring in Political Science and International Affairs. A freshman, he recently graduated from Robert McQueen High School, where he worked to serve his school and community through advocacy and leadership.
While at McQueen, Jason served as Vice President of the school’s National Honor Society chapter, where Jason coordinated volunteer opportunities, organized events such as book, blood, and food drives, and led a voter registration drive to increase civic engagement and awareness among the youth.

Jason played a key part in McQueen’s We the People program, where Jason wrote and delivered constitution-based testimonies at regional and state competitions. His team’s efforts brought his school to the state competition for the first time in its history, which earned his team recognition from Congressman Mark Amodei and Senator Jacky Rosen.

During the 2022 and 2024 elections, Jason served as a volunteer with various political candidates and campaigns, where he engaged with voters through phone banking, campaign events, and canvassing. He worked to communicate the platform of supported candidates and increase voter turnout.

During his first semester at UNR, Jason had the opportunity to work with the Office of United States Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. He engaged with constituents, procured certificates for constituents and businesses, conducted research, and worked to expand the office’s stakeholder network in Northern Nevada.

Jason is currently a Legislative Intern with ASUN. As an intern, he assists in drafting legislation, conducts constituent outreach, and identifies areas where ASUN can provide support. He attends Senate and committee meetings to enhance his legislative understanding and identify areas in which the association as a whole can improve.

Jason is running to represent the College of Liberal Arts as a Senator in ASUN. His focus is on fiscal responsibility, transparency, student advocacy, academic and career readiness, and expanding ASUN's stakeholder network beyond the university.
